A Night in the Garden
October 16, 2016 @ 1:00 am - 3:00 am
Save the Date – CYC’s enchanted fundraiser!
Hello CYC Members and Friends,
It is that time of year again for CYC to start planning our annual fundraiser. This year, we’ve decided to try something new. As some of you may already know, whether you’ve been watching our social media, or heard from a friend, CYC has taken on gardening as a drug-free alternative to promote safe and healthy lifestyles for our youth in Coolidge.
Thanks to a Reinvestment Grant from Cenpatico Integrated Care, CYC has been able to sponsor small raised bed gardens at each of our Coolidge schools, including CUSD Preschool. These gardens will provide students hands-on learning activities in the areas of science, math, art and literacy as well as improve their physical, mental and spiritual well-being. Research shows that youth are experimenting with drugs and alcohol as early as 8th grade – NIDA. To address such behavior, CYC has started prevention with students as young as preschool. Gardening is one way to help kids make the connection with healthy choices and lifestyle practices during their developmental years, critical to their future life decisions.
CYC recently developed a partnership with Master Gardener Phil Bond at the Avocado Nursery. Mr. Bond graciously donated a large garden plot to CYC for agriculture education, community reinvestment, and youth-led farmers markets. So far, we have planted several types of peppers, watermelon, pumpkins, cantaloupe, corn, herbs and much more. We even have a designated flower garden.
We are excited to invite you to our farm-to-table “Night In The Garden” fundraiser on Saturday, October 15, 2016, from 6:00p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Avocado Nursery, hosted in partnership with Phil Bond and the sponsor of our CYC community gardens, Cenpatico Integrated Care. Enjoy live music, veggie samples from our garden and catered appetizers as you take a tour through our CYC Garden at the Avocado Nursery. There will be a silent auction and raffle prizes culminating with the release of “ladybugs” into the garden. All proceeds will go toward our youth in Coolidge and CYC Drug-Free programs such as, Green Zone Anti-Bullying, Community Gardens, “Go Green”, healthy living/healthy lifestyle workshops, curriculums and more coordinated by the Coolidge Youth Coalition.
If you would like to be a sponsor, donate an auction item or raffle prize, please contact Mandy Alexander at email@example.com. Sponsorship and Donation forms are attached below.
Thank you and we look forward to seeing you there!
